The Energy Transition Forum (ETF) is an organization, which provides energy leaders with the opportunity to consider and discuss the implications of the cascading changes in the energy system with their peers in a relaxed, intimate setting under the Chatham House Rule. Convened twice a year – once in Europe, once in the USA – the ETF seeks to generate frank discussion, innovative thinking, and concrete solutions to achieve a timely and responsible transition to a secure, affordable, and low-carbon global energy system.
The ETF was launched in 2012 by the transatlantic think tank, The German Marshall Fund of the United States. In 2015, after 2.5 years under the German Marshall Fund, and five successful workshops, the Energy Transition Forum became an independent organization, through the launch of the “ETF 2.0” led by Miriam Maes, and then Co-Chair Jon Wellinghoff.
Since its inception, the Energy Transition Forum has found success using the 2 principles of “total systems thinking” and the “dialogue method” to facilitate strong personal engagement, effective relationships, and a loose network of like-minded participants who are strongly motivated to understand, navigate, and accelerate the on-going energy transition in their own professional environments.
